The Nosto Spotlight: Meet Frank Zimmermann, Global Head of Partnerships

In this edition of Nosto Team Spotlight, get to know Frank Zimmermann, Global Head of Partnerships and outdoors extraordinaire. Learn what his typical work day looks like, one valuable lesson he’s learned while living through a global pandemic, and the one person who finds his dad jokes funny (spoiler: it’s actually an emoji).

Q: What’s your favorite thing about working at Nosto?

Frank: Being part of a great, diverse, global team which understands to be highly professional but also knows how to have fun and to be a caring community!

Q: What does a typical work day look like for you?

Frank: As surely true for many, my work day is full of calls: mornings with Europe, afternoons with North America and LATAM. The times in between are taken up with research, updates in industry news, market and business analysis, meeting preparations, presentations etc. A perfect work day in Corona times has a break for a walk, quick jog, or swim.



Q: What have you learned about yourself during the pandemic?

Frank: There is no rainbow without rain. Like Einstein put it, “in every crisis lies great opportunity”. This pandemic is a reminder to not focus on things you cannot change, rather focus on how we can emerge from it better and stronger.

We cannot live without relationships, and the last few months have taught me not only how important they are, but also which ones are really meaningful to me and which ones I took for granted. These times are also a reminder of how privileged I am and how much inequality there is in the world – even within a neighborhood. I also have learned to see my kids in a different light – their strengths, maturity and independence, creativity, and tenacity in adjusting to this new way of living and learning, which is inspiration for myself.



Q: You can only watch, and participate in one sport for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Frank: I love the outdoors, nature and mountains (as pictured below), prefer fresh and crisp air over heat and enjoy speed and thrill, so it would be skiing and snowboarding.



Q: Which emoji would you be and why?

Frank: I asked my daughter to help me out and she responded with ? since I am the only one laughing at my dad jokes. But if I have to make my own choice, it would be ? since I am quite analytical and tend to search for deeper meanings of things.
